Community Solar Partnerships

Hi Neighbour is proud of its solar partnerships, they prove that a renewable future can be regenerative for the climate and the community. These partnerships support local businesses to get off fossil fuels and help local workers crack into the renewable industry. The income generated from these solar partnerships goes into our scholarship fund. We pay for locals to get qualified for renewable industries. These partnerships demonstrate our renewable energy future and investment in growing our skilled local workforce.

BUCKAROO X Hi Neighbour

This is what community partnership looks like

Hi Neighbour is the offical finance partner helping Buckaroo Leatherworks in Bellambi put a 99.kW solar system on their roof! That’s
220 panels, generating 128 Megawatt hours of electricity per year.

So what does that mean for local workers?

The interest on the repayments payments will go into our scholarship fund and will become the Buckaroo X Hi Neighbour Scholarship for local workers.

So what does that mean for the atmosphere?

In 10 years that will accumulate to 1.28 Gigawatt hours.
Saving 100 tons of CO2 per year - that's 1000 tonnes over 10 years!

Could your rooftop could be the next powering local scholarships and lowering CO2?

There are 2 kinds of partnerships on offer:

1. Financing for Solar

Hi Neighbour offers a traditional loan option for local businesses to cover the capital expenditure (capex) cost of installing solar energy systems. The loan is repaid with an agreed interest rate over a specified term. The interest generated from the loan is directed towards a scholarship fund. In return for their participation, the local business will have a scholarship round named after their business and will have input into the focus of the scholarship round. This partnership with Hi Neighbour provides the business with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) benefits, including a stronger connection with the community, significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and lower energy bills. Interested businesses can start by filling out an Expression of Interest (EOI) survey to determine if this partnership is suitable for them.

Key considerations for this partnership

  1. The business purchases, owns, operates the solar system, Hi Neighbour provides financing.

  2. We will only work with local solar installers from the Illawarra

  3. Your interest repayments go toward a scholarship round named after your business.

2. Roof Rental for Solar

Hi Neighbour serves as a matchmaker between businesses with large roof spaces and solar energy trading companies. If your business has a roof space that can generate more energy than you need, but you don't want to own your own solar system, this offering is for you. Hi Neighbour liase between your business, your landlord (if you have one) and with an Energy Development Company that will pay for the installation of a large solar system with a pad mounted battery on your roof. This system will have a capacity greater than your energy needs. Your business will be guaranteed the solar energy you require at a fixed, affordable rate through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Any excess energy generated by the system will be traded on the national market by the Energy Development Company. In addition, the building owner (either you or your landlord) will receive payment for renting out your roof space. Hi Neighbour earns a matchmaking fee from this arrangement, which goes towards the scholarship fund. Interested businesses can start by filling out an Expression of Interest (EOI) survey to determine if this partnership is suitable for you.
